7 Reasons to Consider Buying a Used Car
Is your current car about to hit the road, but not in a good way? If so, you might be looking for a replacement. Deciding between buying new and used can be a hard decision, but we personally think used might be your best choice. Here are seven reasons to consider buying a used car.
-
Lower Insurance Costs

Purchasing a used car will be good for your wallet in more than one way. It’s known that used cars cost less on your insurance bill than purchasing a new car. A car that’s only a couple model years old usually won’t have many design changes, but you definitely notice the savings on your insurance bill.
-
Less Depreciation
A new car depreciates the most in value early in its lifespan. Within three years of its manufacture date, most cars lose up to 50% of their value. By purchasing a used car, you can ensure that this steep drop in your car’s value will happen before you purchase it.
-
You Get More Bang for Your Buck
By getting that troublesome depreciation out of the way, you open up your budget for much more car for the money. You can purchase a car with more high-end features for the price of a lower trim new car. You can get options such as heated and ventilated seats, touch-screen radio, and more without spending as much if purchasing these options on a new car.
-
Wider Range of Vehicle Choices
When you decide to purchase a used car, you unlock the possibility of choosing from a wide range of vehicles. Want a truck? Perfect. Car? That’s also possible. The options are pretty much endless since you can choose from models that might not even be on the market anymore.
-
Cheaper Registration Fees and Taxes
While this doesn’t apply in every state, it does here in Texas. Purchasing a used car will cost less in terms of registration fees as well as taxes. Cars that are worth less money used will cost less than a new vehicle. We’re saving money all over the place!
- Certified Pre-Owned Provides You With Peace of Mind
One great thing about buying a new car is that it’s covered by warranty for several thousand miles or years. There’s also the option to purchase a certified pre-owned car so that you can keep this peace of mind with your used car purchase. If this isn’t an option, there are some warranties that you can purchase that will add an extra layer of protection to your used car purchase.
-
You Can Research Potential Problems
If you decide to purchase a used car, do some research before signing those papers and make sure you’re truly making a wise purchase. Look up potential problems, recalls, and more thanks to information on the ever-expanding internet. Knowledge is power, right?
