Your Guide to the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport

A variation on the 2021 sixth-generation Ford Bronco, the Bronco Sport is a compact crossover SUV that combines the best features of a car and a truck. With its boxy build and retro appeal, the agile handling and off-road capabilities of this little ute make it the ideal vehicle for combining city life with adventures in the wild.

Engine Options

The Ford Bronco Sport comes with two available engines. The turbocharged 1.5l Ecoboost 3-cylinder boasts 181hp at 6,000 rpm and delivers 190 lb-ft of torque at 3000rpm, while the 2.0l Ecoboost 4-cylinder offers 245hp and 275 lb-ft. Equipped with 8-speed automatic transmission, it also features an all-wheel-drive system with independent suspension and up to seven GOAT (Goes Over Any Terrain) modes, including Normal, Eco, Slippery, Sand, and Sport.

Trims

There are four available trims on the Bronco Sport, the Base model, Big Bend, Outer Banks, and Badlands, with an additional Limited model released in 2021. As well as the off-road hardware and engine options, these feature variations on the interior and exterior styling, safety features, driving technology, and headlights.

Capabilities

This tough little crossover is capable of towing 2,000 to 2,200 pounds and has a payload of 150. As well as 32.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, and a safari-style roof rack, it has handy additional features such as hidden storage units and a slide-out workbench. Its truck-like shape also allows for extra storage and headroom, making it easy to pack for a weekend expedition.

Off-Roading Performance

With its enhanced 4WD system, upgraded cooling components, and twin-clutch rear-drive unit with a differential lock, the Badlands model is regarded as the ultimate Bronco Sport choice for serious off-roaders. All-Terrain tires, metal bash plates, added one inch of suspension lift for better ground clearance, and seven GOAT modes mean that it’s fully equipped and ready to handle any sort of challenge.

However, all trims feature Trail Control tech, with vehicle-controlled throttle and braking, and a max water-wading capacity of 23.6 inches, meaning that the Base, Big Bend, and Outer Banks models are also well able to take you on the hills and trails.

New in 2022

Following the principle of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, Ford introduced a few changes to the Ford Bronco Sport in 2022. However, a trio of new exterior colors, Bronze Smoke, Velocity Blue, and Hot Pepper Red were introduced.
The moonroof was also removed from each package and instead become a standalone optional addition. This led to a rebranding of each package, with the Big Bend package now known as the Convenience Package and the Outer Banks Package becoming the Tech Package. The Badlands Package has been revamped as the Premium Package and is tipped to feature a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

If the Bronco Sport has got you thinking about future exploits then you should definitely consider giving it a test drive. Contact Jordan Ford to arrange one, or to browse the rest of our stock of new and used vehicles.
