When you come home with a new vehicle from your Ford dealer, it’s not just about the vehicle’s initial quality and reliability. Over time, every vehicle faces potential wear and tear, and having protection in place can offer peace of mind. Ford’s various extended warranty options offer different ways to get the coverage you need.

Ford Protect Extended Service Plans

PremiumCARE

This is Ford’s most comprehensive plan. With this plan, you’re covered for both parts and labor to repair critical components like the engine, transmission, steering, brakes, front suspension, and electrical systems for up to 8 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first.

ExtraCARE Service Plan

Tailored for vehicles with fewer high-tech components, this plan covers 113 components, emphasizing high-tech elements. Full protection is offered for steering and braking, while eight more systems, including the engine and transmission, have partial coverage. High-tech parts under this plan range from the instrument panel to power locks and cruise control.

BaseCARE Service Plan

Focusing on your vehicle’s drivability and performance, BaseCARE expands on PowertrainCARE. It offers full protection for the steering system and partial coverage for eight other systems, including the engine, transmission, and front suspension.

PowertrainCARE

This plan zeroes in on critical engine and transmission components. It provides partial coverage for core drivetrain parts, including the engine, transmission, rear-wheel drive, and front-wheel drive. Ford mentions 29 components under this plan, but the downloadable brochure reveals more.

Added Perks: Ask Your Ford Dealer

Regardless of the plan you choose, Ford throws in several beneficial perks:

  1. Roadside Assistance: Available 24/7 for tire repairs, fuel delivery, and more.
  2. Emergency Travel Expense: Should a covered breakdown happen, you can get reimbursed up to $1,000 within the first five days for food and lodging.
  3. Towing Assistance: Up to $100 is provided for towing services.
  4. Destination Assistance: In case of a covered breakdown, Ford helps with up to $75 to get you to your next stop.
  5. Rental Car Reimbursement: If a covered vehicle is in overnight repair, you’re entitled to rental benefits up to $30 a day for up to 10 days.

However, do remember that routine maintenance (like oil changes or tire rotations) and damage to windshield, tires, and dents aren’t covered under Ford Protect ESPs. For these, Ford offers separate plans.

Is a Ford Extended Warranty Transferable?

Yes! If you decide to sell your Ford, the plan can follow the vehicle. There’s a small fee for transferring the coverage, and contracts must be paid in full before the transfer. Talk to us at Jordan Ford if you have any questions.
