A rear view of a red 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-EThe 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is Ford’s first all-electric SUV, and the first EV to join the iconic Mustang stable. It is packed with cutting edge technology and offers the thrilling performance you’d expect from a vehicle that proudly wears the Pony emblem.

Trim Levels

The 2021 Mach-E is available in Select and Premium models with the option of rear- or all-wheel drive, the rear-wheel drive California Route 1, and the all-wheel drive only GT. In the summer of 2021, a GT Performance Edition will be added to the line-up. Ford offered customers the opportunity to reserve a limited First Edition model, but reservations were quickly filled.

Exterior Styling

Despite the SUV body style, the Mustang heritage of the Mach-E is unmistakable. It features a bold front end, long bulging hood, a low-slung athletic profile, muscular fenders, and the Mustang’s three-bar taillamps.

As standard, the Mach-E offers LED headlights and signature lighting, LED sequential rear turn signals, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The California Route 1 features power-folding mirrors and a panoramic sunroof. The Premium model gets a hands-free liftgate and 19-inch wheels, while the GT adds 20-inch wheels.

A unique feature of the Mach-E is the front trunk which takes advantage of the lack of an engine. The hood hides a 4.8 cubic-feet storage space that can be washed and drained making it perfect for picnics or carrying your muddy gear.

Technology

To enhance your driving pleasure, you can opt for Whisper, Engage, or Unbridled driving modes. Each mode changes the driving dynamics and provides enhanced sounds, variable ambient lighting, and dynamic graphics in the 10.2-inch gauge cluster.

The new Sync infotainment system can learn and adapt to the preferences of up to three different drivers. It’s operated through the large 15.5-inch vertically mounted touch screen.

FordPass lets you access many of the car’s systems from your phone. You can locate the car, lock and unlock it, operate the windows, open the tailgate, and more. Operating the E-Latch system presents an illuminated one-touch button from the sleek profile to enable you to open the door.

Performance and Range

In developing the Mach-E, Ford’s aim was to design an EV with a long-range, that also offered the handling and performance that make it immensely fun to drive. It comes standard with rear-wheel drive, but depending on the model, you can opt for a new AWD system.

Power can be independently applied between the front and rear wheels for optimal handling and acceleration. The power output ranges from 255 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque in base models to 459 horsepower and 612 pound-feet with the GT Performance Edition. Targeted zero to 60 mph time varies from the mid-6 to mid-3-second range.

The Mach-E is available with a standard battery that offers a range of up to 230 miles for RWD cars. Alternatively, an extended range battery enables you to travel up to 300 miles. Opting for AWD reduces the range slightly. Various charging options are available.
