Check Engine Light

The check engine light covers a large variety of engine problems. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you have a battery problem, but it does mean that something in your engine is not working correctly. The system displayed error code is our first step in investigating the issue, as it shows which component is either failing or is not able to do its job for some reason.

Slow Starting Engine

Your engine should start almost immediately, but if it doesn’t there is a problem. As mentioned above, your battery provides the charge to start the ignition, but as a battery grows older, it loses its ability to fully charge. When a battery has weakened sufficiently, you will likely hear and feel stuttering from the engine before it turns over.

Engine Clicks

An engine that clicks repeatedly before it starts is a sign that either the battery is not supplying enough power or there is a problem with the ignition. A failing battery does not have sufficient charge to start your engine immediately. Your battery, however, may be fine, but it might not be charging correctly due to an alternator problem. Our technicians are experts in diagnosing issues with your Ford, and they will find the source of the problem.

Corroded Battery Terminals

A damaged battery can start to leak acid, and this acid mixes with air in your engine and will start to corrode the battery terminals. The corrosion is easy to identify since it appears as a powdery coating around the positive or negative terminals. You could clean off the corrosion with a rag, and it might extend the battery’s life, but we recommend replacing the battery. A corroding battery will fail, and this will usually happen at the worst possible time.

Old Battery

A battery’s lifespan is approximately 3-5, and we recommend that your battery is checked at least every three years to ensure it is working correctly. The older your battery, the more likely it is that it will fail. We can easily test your battery and advise if it needs to be replaced.

Your car’s battery lasts for 3-5 on average. Its lifespan is dependant on several factors, including temperature, humidity, and driving conditions. If you are worried about your car battery or it shows any signs of trouble, contact our service department right away at Jordan Ford Ltd. Our expert technicians will examine your car and we can replace your battery with a new one if needed.
