If you’ve never been involved in an accident, you probably don’t know the details about what happens during a collision repair. We hope that you’ll never be involved in an accident, but we believe it’s important to know how the procedure works just in case. As your Ford dealer, this is an overview of the procedure we’ll use to repair your vehicle.Ford Collision Body Shop San Antonio, TX

7 Steps to a Collision Repair at Your Ford Dealer

Estimate

Once your car arrives at our repair center, one of our experienced estimators will thoroughly examine your car and document all of the damage. The estimator will also take pictures and videos of the damaged parts. This information, together with our report, will be given to you, and your insurance company if they are arranging the repairs.

We’ll confirm your contact details are still correct, and we’ll get the details of your insurance company so the information can be sent to them.

Teardown

We’ll remove all of the damaged parts to identify if there is further damage that needs to be fixed. If your insurance company is arranging the repairs, they may send someone to examine the damage. Once teardown is complete, we will be able to provide a quote with the cost of the repairs and an estimated time to completion. Once we receive confirmation from you or your insurance company, we can proceed to repair your car.

Repair

All damaged sections and other parts of your car will be removed. Our parts department will supply replacement parts, and any parts that need to be painted will be sent to our painting section. Our technicians will repair your car section by section, and depending on the extent of the damage, we may work on the interior and exterior of your car at the same time.

Painting

While the repairs are proceeding, any sections that require painting will be receiving priming and sealing before they received a base coat and a clear coat. This provides the best possible finish for the parts. The color we use will be an exact match for your car.

Rebuilding

Once the repairs are complete, our technicians will reattach any replacement parts and sections to the exterior. Your car will also be tested to confirm that it is in full working order.

Quality Control

Our quality control section will examine your car and review the repaired file to make sure the correct procedures have been followed. This check ensures your car has been repaired to the highest standard required by Ford. Your car will then be sent for cleaning and polishing.

Return

We will contact you to let you know your car is ready for collection. You will need to check your car and confirm that the repairs have been completed satisfactorily. You’ll then be able to drive off in a perfectly restored vehicle.
