Named the best full-size pickup truck by U.S. News and World Report, the 2020 Ford F-150 offers some of the best towing and hauling numbers in its class. A versatile truck, it has seven trims (XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, and Raptor), three cab styles (Regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew), and three bed lengths (5 feet 6 inches, 6 feet 6 inches, and 8 feet). To stay ahead of its competition, Ford offers three new features for the 2020 F-150.
- New Standard Transmission
When Ford redesigned the F-150 in 2018, it made the 10-speed automatic transmission more widely available. For 2020, this transmission comes standard with all six engines. These six engines include the following:
- The base 3.3-liter V-6 engine produces 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. This engine is standard on the XL and XLT trims.
- The 2.7-liter turbocharged V-6 creates 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. It’s standard on the Lariat but offered on the XL and XLT trims.
- The 5.0-liter V-8 engine gives you 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard on the King Ranch and Platinum trims but is available on the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims.
- The 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6 engine gets 375 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. You can have this engine with all of the trims except the Limited and Raptor trims.
- The 3.5-liter high-output turbocharged V-6 engine produces 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. It’s standard on the Limited and Raptor trims.
- The 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 diesel creates 250 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. It’s available on the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims. This engine is a new option on the XLT trim for 2020.
- Additional Appearance Packages
To enhance your F-150’s exterior, the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims receive new appearance packages.
- Chrome package. Found on the XL trim, this package includes 17-inch aluminum wheels and body accents. With the XLT and Lariat, you gain 18-inch aluminum wheels and body accents.
- Special Edition package. The XLT and Lariat trims receive 20-inch aluminum wheels, an accented step bar, and a body-colored grille.
- Sport package. With the XL trim, this is the same as the Chrome package but with bumpers matching the body color. On the XLT and Lariat, you gain 18-inch aluminum wheels, accented step bars, and bumpers in the body color. The grille is also painted in a magnetic color.
- STX package. Available on the XL trim, this includes 20-inch aluminum wheels, privacy glass, halogen fog lamps, and matching grille, front fascia, and bumpers.
- More Standard Safety Features
In addition to the King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trims, the Lariat trim now comes standard with Ford’s suite of advanced driver-assistance technology features called the Co-Pilot 360. This suite includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, a rearview camera, lane-keep assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and cross-traffic alert.
