Trim Levels (Exterior)

The first trim in the 2023 F-150 Lightning lineup is the Pro, which features an intricately designed grille with a Carbon Black finish, a tailgate featuring a power lock and black bezels, and black-accented machine-finished wheels measuring 18 inches. On the XLT, you'll find a Satin Metallic grille with Geometric gray accents and running boards featuring a Carbon Black finish and enhanced lighting. The Lariat sits atop 20-inch Dark Carbonized Gray wheels, and the Platinum comes with bright machined wheels measuring 22 inches and featuring Ebony Black accents. No matter what Lightning model you choose, you can take advantage of a front-end trunk that holds four 120-volt outlets, a USB-C outlet, and a USB-A outlet.

Engine (Power)

With the 2023 F-150 Lightning, you can take advantage of two electric motors — one mounted on the front axle and one on the rear — that generate 775 pound-feet of torque. The dual-motor system teams up with a standard-range battery to produce 462 horsepower, enabling the Lightning to tow up to 5,000 pounds. If you go with the XLT, Lariat, or Platinum trims, you can swap out the standard-range battery for an extended-range battery that gives the Lightning a 580-horsepower output and a 7,700-pound towing capacity. The extended-range battery provides the Platinum with a 300-mile driving range when fully charged. Ford equips every Lightning with a mobile power cord so you can charge your truck with a 120-volt or 240-volt outlet.

Performance

Thanks to its dual-motor powertrain, the F-150 Lightning has all-wheel-drive capabilities that are still rare in the all-electric segment. These capabilities enable the Lightning to take on unstable surfaces while delivering effortless handling regardless of driving conditions. Selectable driving modes include towing and haul modes, and there is a mode for one-pedal driving, which seamlessly delivers acceleration and braking functionality through one pedal.

Interior

Inside the 2023 F-150 Lightning, you'll find seating for five with plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy the ride. The Pro features comfy yet durable vinyl upholstery, while the XLT features cloth seating surfaces. Ford equips the Lariat and Platinum with leather upholstery. You can take advantage of available amenities like a 10-way-adjustable power driver's seat with memory and lumbar controls, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heating and ventilation for the front seats. Lower trims feature a 12.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, while upper trims get a 15.5-inch display.

Safety Features

The 2023 F-150 Lightning comes with a pre-collision assist featuring pedestrian detection, a frontal-collision alert, and dynamic brake support to help prevent collisions. When a vehicle enters your Lightning's blind-spot zones, you'll receive a warning from the blind-spot monitor, which also detects approaching traffic when the vehicle is in reverse. Other features include tire-pressure monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, and parking assistance.
