2020 Ford Fusion

You can choose between four different Fusion trim levels. The base is the S, which has 16-inch steel wheels, and it comes with automatic headlights. Just a step up to the SE gets you 17-inch wheels and keyless entry, while the SEL adds LED headlights, an auto-dimming driver's side exterior mirror, and heated side mirrors. Take a step up to the top-level Premium model for 19-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, LED fog lights, and a sunroof.

The base engine in the 2020 Fusion is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 173 horsepower that works with a six-speed automatic transmission. The SE bumps up the power with a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder that generates 181 horsepower, and if you add the all-wheel drive package, it comes with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that develops 240 horsepower.

All three of the engines give the Fusion plenty of power. The most fuel-efficient powertrain is the 1.5-liter turbo. It will get you 23 miles per gallon in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. This little sedan offers a sportier driving experience than you get in most sedans. It is agile with strong brakes, and you won't feel much lean when you go around corners.

The mid-size Fusion fits up to five people with space for everyone to spread out. Cloth seats come standard along with a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. Bumping up a few trims to the SEL will add heated front seats, driver-seat memory settings, and it has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, while the Titanium has heated and ventilated sport seats and ambient interior lighting.

The Technology in the Fusion starts with Bluetooth, a USB port, voice commands, and a 4.2-inch center screen. The SE adds an 8-inch touch screen display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the Sync 3 infotainment system, two USB ports, and navigation. If you want this tech for the base S trim, it is available as an option. The SE also comes with a six-speaker stereo with satellite radio. Additional technology that Ford makes available includes a Wi-Fi hot spot, a 12-speaker Sony stereo system, and an 11-speaker stereo.

The Fusion has an impressive list of advanced driver aids. Even the base comes with Ford Co-Pilot360. This suite of safety features includes a blind-spot monitor, forward collision warning and mitigation, lane keep assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. Bumping up to the SE also gets you the option for Ford's Co-Pilot360 Assist group, which adds adaptive cruise control. Standard safety features in the Fusion include a rearview camera and Ford's MyKey system that allows you to set parameters for teen drivers.
