2020 Ford Escape
The newly designed Ford Escape is better than ever. This compact SUV has an athletic feel, and it now comes standard with more safety features. The hybrid version is back after an absence from the lineup, and there are new engine options. The 2020 Escape has a lower profile than the previous model, and it has a new look for the front grille. Here is a look at the latest Escape.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2020 Escape comes in five different trim levels. The lineup includes the S, SE, SE Sport, the SEL, and the Titanium. The S starts with LED taillights and 17-inch wheels, while SE adds alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, and chrome exterior trim elements. The SE Sport hybrid comes with a power tailgate and a panoramic sunroof, and the SEL adds a hands-free power liftgate, 18-inch wheels, and remote start.
The top-of-the-line Titanium has 19-inch wheels, acoustic glass, and xenon headlights.

Engine (Power)
If you buy an S, SE, or SEL, it comes standard with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine with 181 horsepower. A 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder is available and will get 250 horsepower. The standard engine for the Titanium and the SE Sport is a gas-electric hybrid powertrain. This combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor to produce 200 horsepower and 209 pound-feet of torque. It works with a CVT, and you can get it with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Performance
The base engine accelerates quickly, and will even shut off a cylinder when it's not needed to save fuel. Bumping up to the 2.0-liter turbo gets you a more engaging ride, and it can tow up to 3,500 pounds. The 2020 Escape rides smoothly as its suspension eats up hard impacts and smooths out the road.
Interior
The Escape's cabin has an upscale feel and room for up to five passengers. The 2020 non-hybrid models have a newly designed rear seat that slides forward and back up to six inches so you can adjust it for more cargo space or legroom depending on what you need. The large glovebox can fit a 10-inch tablet, and the cargo area has enough space for four golf club bags.
Technology, even in the base trim, includes an 8-inch touch screen display and Bluetooth. A 12.3-inch digital display is an available upgrade for the driver, and you can also add the SYNC 3 infotainment system along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Waze. Ford Pass Connect comes in every Escape and provides 4G LTE Wi-Fi for up to ten devices, and it has an app that allows remote access to the SUV.

Safety Features
All of the 2020 Escape models have a forward collision warning, a rearview camera, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, along with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Ford's MyKey parental control system is also a standard feature in every trim level. You can add a head-up display, evasive steering assist, and an adaptive cruise control system that has a lane-centering feature.
