2022 Ford F-150 vs. 2022 Toyota Tundra

Ford's top-selling pickup truck is as bold as ever for the 2022 model year. Even with the Toyota Tundra's latest redesign, the F-150 stands out with its upscale interior design, impressive power, and smooth handling.

Powertrain

The F-150 offers a wide variety of powertrains, starting with a 3.3-liter V-6 and a 5.0-liter V-8. There's also a 3.0-liter turbodiesel, a 2.7-liter turbo V-6 gas engine, and a 3.5-liter V-6 that delivers 400 horsepower. The Tundra only offers a choice between two different turbo V-6 engines. The first is a twin-turbo with 389 horsepower, and the second is the same V-6 paired with a hybrid system. Ford's F-150 also offers a hybrid powertrain.

Towing Capacity

Pickup trucks are all about the towing power, and the Tundra doesn't come close to the F-150. The Ford can tow up to 14,000 pounds, depending on the configuration, and up to 12,400 pounds with the hybrid engine. The Tundra maxes out at 12,000 pounds even with its most capable configuration.

Cabin Features

The F-150 offers a higher-quality cabin than the Tundra, with wood and aluminum trim in the higher-end models. Both the F-150 and Tundra have lots of tech features. Both come standard with an 8-inch touch screen. The Tundra offers a 14-inch screen, and the F-150 offers a 12-inch touch screen in the Lariat and above. While updates to the 2022 Tundra make it more competitive in the pickup truck market, it's still no match for the 2022 Ford F-150. This truck has more engine options, more towing power, and a classier cabin.
